How To Play

BREAKWALL – How to Play (Simplified)

This Image above is the BREAKWALL Board layout that is used in every game.

The positions highlighted on the image show what card can be played where. Below we will explain what the different types of card are and what they can do.

Cards:

·         OFFENCE – Played in the EFF/EQ space. The most powerful cards.

·         LOCATION – Boosted Power or abilities for a specific race/s.

·         EQUIPMENT – Boosted Power or abilities for a specific Person card.

·         EFFECT – Cards that can change the match in an instant.

·         PERSON – Cards that have Power, abilities and deal damage to your opponent.

Other Positions:

·         Prison – All Person cards go here. Person cards have a Prison number. This number is used to determine what space the card will go to once it has been destroyed.

·         Lockup – All other card types go here. All other cards have a Lockup number. This number is used to determine what space the card will go to once it has been destroyed.

Decks:

·         Main Deck – All of your cards you will be battling with.

·         Prison Deck – This deck will be made up of your destroyed Person cards. These cards are sent face up. When another card is added to the same Prison position, it goes to the bottom of the pile. You will be able to draw from this deck and play these cards again. Lots of Person cards will have Prison effects that will be activated after being in the Prison Deck (PE)!

·         Lockup Deck – This deck will be made up of your used other card types (Non-Person). These cards are sent face up. When another card is added to the same Lockup position, it goes to the bottom of the pile. You will be able to draw from this deck and play these cards again. Some card types will have effects that can be activated after being in the Lockup deck (LE)!

Before The Game

Now you have your board layout, your cards and where they all go. What do you need to start the game? It’s a good idea to have a pen and piece of paper to keep track of your Health and the damage you and your opponent receive.

Health – Starts at 50 but you can change it to any value you and your opponent agree on. Try higher Health for longer games.

Damage – The is value your Person Cards will deal with their Power when they attack.

Cards will lose Power when Battling. 5 Power vs 4 Power = 1 Damage to the player and the 5 Power card goes to 1 Power. The 4 Power card is destroyed.

Playing The Game

Use any agreed upon decider to determine who goes first. Going first in BREAKWALL is a good advantage!

Draw Phase
Both players draw 5 cards.

Defence Phase

If you have any Person cards in your draw, you can play them on your board. You can play as many as you like. However, if you have a Person card/s in your hand – you must play at least one.

1st Turn – Player 1

Draw 3 cards from the Main Deck. Read your cards and play your turn. Remember any cards you play MUST stay on the field until the end of your turn. Once you have played all the cards you wanted to, you can proceed to the attack stage.

Attack – Once you are in the Attack stage, you cannot play anymore cards and once complete your turn is over. You can attack your opponent’s Person cards or directly and deal Damage to your opponent’s Health. Remember to track Health and what the Power of each Person card is as it may have changed during your turn. Once your turn is over, move any used or destroyed cards to the respective Prison/Lockup positions. Whichever card is used/destroyed first is moved to a position first and so on.

2nd Turn – Player 2

Follow the same rules as above for the next player’s turn.

3rd Turn – Player 1

This turn and all subsequent turns for this Player (Player 1) aka the winner of the decider will involve the Movement Phase. This is for BOTH players. It just occurs on the winner’s turn before their draw. Before the next Draw Phase, move all cards in Prison and Lockup down 1 space. Any movements to an already occupied position will go to the bottom of the pile.

Position 5 ->> Position 4 etc…  Position 1 ->> Applicable Deck.

Proceed to the Draw Phase (Player 1) – you can now draw ANY combination of 3 cards from any of the 3 Decks now in play. You may not have any cards available at the start of the Battle in the decks, but it will increase during the Battle. Continue your turns as above and enjoy the Battle. Don’t forget to move your cards!

Any PE/LE effects are only applicable to use once you have had the card from Prison/Lockup back into your hand. Either by drawing the card or by card effect.
